Why Bow?

Every time you walk through the door of the school; every time you greet your instructor and fellow students; you bow.

Why?

Bowing is a traditional form of greeting. It shows respect to your instructors and to the art of Taekwondo. It doesn’t have any religious significance. Bowing an important step in learning the discipline of the martial arts.

When To Bow

Students should always bow when entering the school, to show respect to the art.

Also, bow to instructors when you enter a room they are in, or when they come into the room you are in.

Thirdly, bow to your fellow students before and after working out together.

How to Bow

Place both hands at your side. Your feet should be pointing fowards. Bend at the waist and the neck.

If you are bowing to a higher rank, make sure you bow lower than they do.
