Water World Friday Aug 3rd

Water world camp August 3rd.

Newsletter 27 April 2010

Are you enjoying all the greenery and being able to get outside again? Let’s make sure our kids are building up their strength for summer, with their great karate workout!

The big news this week is that the Dogwood Festival is fast approaching. As are the May Graduations.

And don’t forget to sign up for Summer Camp now, to lock in the dates you really want.
DOGWOOD FESTIVAL FLOAT

The Dogwood Festival is approaching (third week in May), and we need some help decorating The Phoenix Karate “Awesome” Float.

[Remember Halloween?]

The theme for the parade this year is “Under The Sea”, and we want to make a big, er, splash (sorry). If you are willing to help decorate the float, please call Master Phelan at 610.935.3545 and let him know.

All are welcome.
FIRST FRIDAY GRADUATIONS, MAY 7

The ever-expanding graduations just keep rolling around! Friday May 7, is First Friday in Phoenixville and Graduation Night at Phoenix Karate. We have a big group graduating this month, so come one, come all…but come early!

MORE YOGA CLASSES ADDED

The Chillin’ Yogi, Alycia Gargano, has introduced some new classes and class times, including new weekday and Saturday classes and a kids’ yoga class on Saturdays. Check out the newly-updated Yoga Classes page. For more information, contact Alycia at her website or by phone: 610-405-2566.

We’re now offering after-kindergarten pick-up two days a week (you pick the days), picking up from all area kindergartens (or your home, if you’re a home-schooler).

You pick the days that suit you.

Dogwood Festival is Coming

It’s ba-ack!

Yes, the Dogwood Festival is just around the corner on May 5, and Phoenix  Karate is getting in on the action.

Phoenix Karate Float
Remember the Halloween Parade?

This year’s theme is Under The Sea, so we’ll be decking the Phoenix Karate Awesome Float out with aquatic appliques, and parading with the town’s best. Of course, we’d love to have the kids ride and cheer in their best Undersea outfits.

We’d also love to have volunteers to come down one Saturday before the big day and help us get the float ship-shape.

If you can help, give us a call:

Yoga Class at Phoenix Karate

When we caught Master Phelan limbering up and practicing tying himself in knots, we knew it was time to find a yoga teacher.

Luckily, in walked the Chillin Yogi, Alycia Gargano, who offered to save Neil from himself, and teach a few yoga classes right here at Phoenix Karate.

Alycia has been studying yoga for 12 years and has been certified both by YogaLife in Devon and Childlight Yoga.

For the past year she has been teaching “everything from Hatha to kids’ yoga.”

“I love to teach people tools to manage their stress, and emotions.” says Alycia.

Her classes at Phoenix Karate start in April:

Wednesday: 9:00AM-10:00AM (yoga level 2)
Wednesday: 10:15AM-11:15AM (yoga level 1)

Kids yoga: (ages 6-11)
Saturday 4:30PM-5:30PM

Cost:
Adult: $60.00 per month
Kids: $40.00 per month

New Kindergarten After-School Camps

Our regular after-school program is such a hit with kids and parents that we’re expanding it to include Kindergartners.

We take care of it all — transportation, activities and homework — so you can have free time after work to spend with your family.

Kindergarten Package — 2 days a week — $210

We will:

  • Pick up kindergartners from all area kindergartens
  • Satisfying their need for an after-school activity: daily karate classes will reduce their excess after-school energy AND teach them skills such as teamwork, leadership and vision.
  • Setting aside designated quiet time for homework, reading and other fun activities.
  • You choose which two days out of the week work for you.
  • Pick up time: 6 PM

(If you need morning care for your kindergartner, call Neil at 610.935.3545)

So come on down to Phoenix Karate on Mondays and Wednesday, 7:00-7:45 PM and learn:

  • Tae Kwon Do
  • Kung Fun,
  • Phillippino stick art
  • Self-Defense

For the most dedicated students, Master Phelan is starting a new Demonstration Team.  This team will perform at special events and will be required to commit to training every Friday night from 7:00-8:00 PM.
