Neil Phelan, the owner of Phoenix Karate, has been coming to Holy Family School for five years with a unique program for our students. He introduces the children to martial arts, teachers stranger awareness, and basic self-defense.

In addition, his program offers children a nontraditional form of physical fitness for those looking for an alternative to competitive team sports. Students learn how to become more fit and more disciplined in all areas of their lives. This introduction to karate provides many children with increased self esteem and the opportunity to succeed at their own pace.

This program is tailored to the varying ages of our students and is extremely popular with our preschool all the way to our 8th graders. his teaching style is wonderful with all grade levels! Here at Holy Family School we view this program as an excellent opportunity to take advantage of the resources within our community to enrich the lives of our children.

In addition to providing an excellent safety program, Neil’s class is fun, active and entertaining for all of our students. Stepping Stone Education Center

For the past five years, the Stepping Stone Education Center has partnered with Phoenix Karate in providing an introduction to karate for our preschoolers. We haev taken field trips to their karate school on Bridge Street, had demonstrations at our school for families and are planning to host an adult self defense class.

On our visits to Phoenix Karate, the instructors are aware of age limitations and provide activities that are appropriate. They accept each child for who they are and adapt the program to their abilities. Our students leave the dojo with excitement at having learned new skills. The children continue to react to the command “Discipline!” throughout the school year!

We have also had Phoenix Karate as our ‘featured entertainment’ at our Fmaily Fun Night! Entire families were introduced to the aspects of discipline, focus and self-confidence in a safe and fun atmosphere.

Neil Phelan believes in educating not only children, but provides programs for adults as well. We look forward to providing an adult self defense class at our school for our families in the near future.
